Moreno Valley, California’s Rebekah Blackwell Taylor accused of abusing student, posts $10k bond

Rebekah Arte Blackwell Taylor, 22, of Moreno Valley, Riverside County, California, United States worked as a a substitute teacher at Orange Vista High School in Perris, Riverside County. She attended the University of California, Santa Barbara in Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara County, California from 2018 to 2022.

In 2018, Taylor received scholarship from Delta Sigma Theta Sorority‘s alumnae chapter that covers California’s Riverside County and San Bernardino County. On December 17, 2022, the Val Verde Unified School District (VVUSD) hired her.

While employed as an Orange Vista High School substitute teacher, Taylor allegedly performed an oral sex on an underage male student at the school. On April 27, 2023, VVUSD Police Department officers were informed that the Moreno Valley resident allegedly had an illicit encounter with the student.

The case was turned over to the special victims unit of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. Taylor was fired from VVUSD at the conclusion of the department’s investigation, which confirmed the alleged encounter.

At around 7:15 a.m. on May 2, 2023, Taylor was taken into custody without incident at her residence on Soaring Seagull Lane in Moreno Valley and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside, Riverside County. In the evening, she was released from custody after she posted a $10,000 bond.

Taylor was charged with committing lewd acts with a student under the age of 18 and annoying and molesting a child under the age of 18. The investigation remains ongoing.
