Sacramento, California’s Sage Northcutt submits Ahmed Mujtaba at ‘ONE Fight Night 10’ in Broomfield, Colorado

“Super” Sage Northcutt, 27, of Sacramento, California, United States was one of the winners at “ONE Fight Night 10“, the first ever ONE Championship event held in the U.S. It marked his first victory in the Singapore-based martial arts promotion.

Northcutt is 6’0″ tall. He is a 4th dan black belt in Kajukenbo, a 3rd dan black belt in Taekwondo, a black belt in Shuri-ryū Karate and a purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

ONE Fight Night 10

Featuring seven mixed martial arts bouts, two Muay Thai contests and two submission grappling matches, “ONE Fight Night 10” was held at 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado, USA. Broomfield is around 16.4 miles away from Denver, Colorado.

In the sixth bout of the evening, Northcutt fought “The Wolverine” Ahmed Mujtaba, 30, of Quetta, Pakistan in the lightweight division. Referee Olivier Coste stopped the lightweight contest after 39 seconds in the first round when Northcutt submitted Mujtaba via heel hook.

The loss downgraded Mujtaba’s professional MMA record to 9 wins and 3 losses while Northcutt now has 12 wins and 3 losses. “ONE Fight Night 10” marked the Pakistani MMA fighter’s seventh ONE Championship fight and his Californian opponent’s second fight in the promotion.

Sage Northcutt from UFC to ONE Championship

As a professional kickboxer, Northcutt has 15 wins and 0 loss. In 2014, he made his professional MMA debut and defeated four opponents that year.

In 2015, Northcutt joined the Ultimate Fighting Championship and defeated two opponents in the promotion namely Francisco Treviño and Cody Pfister that year. In the same promotion, Northcutt defeated Enrique Martin but lost to Bryan Barberena and Mickey Gall in 2016.

Still in the UFC, Northcutt defeated Michel Quiñones in 2017 and Thibault Gouti and Zak Ottow in 2018 in the UFC. When Northcutt made his ONE Championship debut on May 17, 2019 at “ONE: Enter the Dragon” in Kallang, Singapore, he was knocked out by Cosmo Alexandre.

It was the first time Northcutt was knocked out in a professional MMA bout. He was left with eight facial fractures that required prompt surgical repair.

After the loss, Northcutt was supposed to return to Kallang and fight Shinya Aoki at “ONE on TNT 4”. However, the Sacramento resident withdrew from the bout after testing positive for the new coronavirus (COVID-19) and was replaced by Eduard Folayang.
