Schuyler Grant Naves, 27, of Oceanside, San Diego County, California, United States previously lived in Spring Valley, San Diego County and Los Angeles, California. He is a U.S. Army soldier assigned to Fort Bragg in North Carolina, USA.
Naves is accused of agreeing to pay someone for sexual activity with a handicapped child for sex. The supposed recipient of the payment is a family member of the child.
In April 2023, detectives with the Liberty Police Department in Liberty, Randolph County, North Carolina started investigating Naves. On May 6, 2023, the Fort Bragg soldier travelled to Liberty allegedly with the intent of engaging in the illicit activity.
When Naves arrived in Liberty that day, he was arrested. He was charged with soliciting prostitution of a minor, soliciting a minor for sex by computer, soliciting a minor for sex by computer and appearing to meet, attempted statutory rape of a minor, attempted statutory sex offense of a minor and attempted first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
After finding probable cause on the charges, a magistrate in Randolph County gave Naves a $1 million secured bond. He was booked into the Randolph County Jail in Asheboro, Randolph County where he awaits his first court appearance.
Built in 1918, Fort Bragg is named after Braxton Bragg, a Confederate general born in Warrenton, Warren County, North Carolina. On September 27, 1876, he died in Galveston, Texas, USA at age 59.
Julianne Moore, 62, was born in Fort Bragg. On February 22, 2025, she won the Best Actress award at the 87th Academy Awards for her “Still Alice” performance.
