“Mortal Kombat 12” has been revealed as “Mortal Kombat 1“. Developed by NetherRealm Studios in Chicago, Illinois, United States, the fighting game was published by Warner Bros. Games, which is headquartered in Burbank, California, USA.
In July 2021, it was announced that NetherRealm Studios was working on a new project. According to Warner Bros. Games and NetherRealm Studios, the game will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and PC on September 19, 2023.
Chicago native Ed Boon, 59, is the creative director of “Mortal Kombat 1”. This reboot is set in the New Era timeline created by Liu Kang after the character attained godhood in “Mortal Kombat 11“, which was released in North America and Europe for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows on April 23, 2019.
Matthew Yang King, 49, who was born in New York City, New York, USA, voiced Liu Kang in “Mortal Kombat 11”. The other characters confirmed to appear in “Mortal Kombat 1” are Johnny Cage, Kitana, Kung Lao, Mileena, Raiden, Scorpion, Shang Tsung and Sub-Zero.
The premium edition of “Mortal Kombat 1” is worth $109.99. By preordering this, a player gets early access beginning on September 14, 2023 alongside 1,250 Dragon Krystals, early access to six new playable characters, five new Kameo Fighters and a Johnny Cage skin styled after Jean-Claude Van Damme, 62, who was born in Sint-Agatha-Berchem, Brussels-Capital, Belgium.
Johnny Cage was introduced in the original “Mortal Kombat” game, which Midway released in August 1992. Like Van Damme, the character is an action movie star with an extensive martial arts background.
