Pelham, Alabama sports coach Jamie Hutto arrested; Bond set at $300K

Jamie Paul Hutto, 39, of Pelham, Shelby County, Alabama, United States was a volunteer coach in the Parks and Recreation Department of Pelham. He passed a background check and completed the department’s annual mandatory coach safety program.

Aside from Pelham, Hutto has lived in other parts of Alabama including Bessemer, Cordoba, McCalla and Vance. Recently, a Pelham resident informed the Pelham Police Department that Hutto was involved in child pornography.

On May 24, 2023, Hutto was arrested and charged with five counts of possession of child pornography and five counts of dissemination of child pornography. He was booked into the Shelby County Jail in Columbiana, Shelby County.

Bond for Hutto was set at $300,000. He has been removed from his position as a volunteer coach in the Pelham Parks and Recreation Department.

Incorporated on July 10, 1964, Pelham was named for Confederate Civil War officer John Pelham, who died on March 17, 1863 at age 24. The city is home to Pelham High School, Pelham Park Middle School, Pelham Tree Elementary School and Pelham Mountain Elementary School.

On January 25, 2023, Pelham Park Middle School teacher and wrestling coach Adam Jeremy Lewis, 39, of Pelham was arrested, charged with possessing child pornography and booked into the Shelby County Jail. He was released after posting $15,000 bond.
