Jaron Courtney Smith of Palm Coast, Flagler County, Florida, United States has died. He was 32.
At around 1:17 a.m. on June 4, 2023, Daytona Beach Police Department officers responded to Orange Avenue in Daytona Beach, Volusia County, Florida in reference to a weapons complaint. The responding officers found a vehicle occupied by Smith.
The vehicle crashed and Smith was suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach where he was pronounced dead.
According to witnesses, Smith was burning money outside of a birthday party. He reportedly had just signed a record deal and received 1 million views on Instagram.
Robert Blue, 27, allegedly came over to Smith and they got into an argument. The latter allegedly challenged the former to a fight.
When Blue took out a firearm and pointed it at Smith, Smith allegedly sprayed Blue with pepper spray and punched him in the face. Blue allegedly drove away after shooting Smith until the magazine was emptied.
The Daytona Beach Police Department did not release the details about the relationship between Blue and Smith. Whether or not Blue is a Daytona Beach resident is still unknown.
On June 5, 2023, Blue was arrested. He was charged with second-degree murder.
It was not the first time Blue was arrested. In the past, he was arrested on unrelated charges, including possession of cannabis, resisting arrest and aggravated assault.
