Wegal Rosen is a Canadian man who lives both in Canada and the United States and suffers from sleep apnea. He was born in Tel Aviv, Israel to Adolf Rosenzweig and Faijga Szefner.

Rosenzweig was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada while Szefner was born in Lodz, Poland. In 1933, they got married in Lodz.

Rosen is a part-time resident of Deerfield Beach, Broward County, Florida, USA. He owns a house on Queen Street East in Toronto, Ontario, Canada where he is a permanent resident.

  6. In August 2013, he was appointed as the lead representative plaintiff in the class action claim accusing Nesbitt Burns of breaching its duties to the class members by systematically and improperly denying overtime to the class.
  7. In 2016, he paid $49,500 for an 828-square-foot condo at Century Village in Deerfield Beach. In the same year, Nesbitt Burns agreed to pay him and more than 1,500 other plaintiffs $12 million on a non-reversionary basis for class member compensation and a further $500,000 to cover the costs of administration. As representative plaintiff, he was entitled to a $10,000 honorarium.
  8. On January 12, 2018, his brother David Rosenzweig died at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal at age 80.
  9. On January 4, 2019, he was arrested after getting into a parking lot scuffle with Susan Leibowitz, then 77, in the retirement community at Century Village. He was charged with a third-degree felony charge of battery on a person over 65, which was eventually dropped by the Broward State Attorney’s Office.
  10. The charge related to his crime on January 4, 2019 was not prosecuted. The release of the case was filed on June 7, 2021.
  11. On July 10, 2021, while on his way to Toronto for a cardiologist appointment, he argued with an Air Canada employee at the Fort-Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport in Fort Lauderdale, Broward County over additional charges for baggage and the airline’s no cash policy. He told the employee that there was a bomb in his luggage, which actually contained a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine and no bomb. Authorities evacuated three terminals and halted all operations at the airport for hours and he was arrested and charged with making a false report concerning planting a bomb, explosive or weapon of mass destruction. He was arrested and booked into the Broward County Jail in Fort Lauderdale.
  12. On July 12, 2021, he attended a magistrate hearing before Judge Tabitha Blackmon. Represented by Jason Weiss, he was told he could neither return to the FLL nor possess weapons or ammo. The judge also said he could fly to Canada but he would have to travel through other airports in Florida. On July 13, 2021, he remained in jail on $20,000 bond.
  13. On June 30, 2023, he turned 76.
