Sinéad Marie Bernadette O’Connor was an Irish singer born in the Cascia House Nursing Home in Dublin, Ireland to John Oliver “Seán” O’Connor and Johanna Marie O’Grady. Sean is a structural engineer who became a barrister.
Sean and O’Grady have four other children namely Joseph O’Connor, Eimear O’Connor, John O’Connor and Eoin O’Connor. In 1976, Sean married Viola Margaret Suiter.
In 1979, Sinéad left O’Grady and went to live with Sean in Alexandria, Virginia, United States. From 1981 to 1982, Sinéad was placed for 18 months in the Grianán Training Centre in Dublin for shoplifting and truancy.
In 1984, Sinéad met Colm Farrelly and they recruited a few other members and formed a band called Ton Ton Macoute. On February 10, 1985, O’Grady died in a car accident at age 46.
