Santiago González, 40, of Mexico and Édouard Roger-Vasselin, 39, of France were the men’s doubles champions. Jessica Pegula, 29, and Coco Gauff, 19, were the women’s doubles champions.
Sonia Montenegro Bolanos
On June 6, 2021, Bolanos was arrested in Monroe, County, Florida. Details about her arrest are not available.
On April 2, 2023, Bolanos attended the 2023 Miami Open. While at Hard Rock Stadium, she allegedly approached a man, 38, wearing a Richard Mille watch worth $750,000.
The man was getting ready to leave the stadium when he was bumped from behind. When he turned around, he saw Bolanos with two of her fingers between his watchband and wrist.
Bolanos and the man struggled for the watch. Another woman, a citizen of Colombia identified by her last name Sabogal, snatched the watch and passed it to a third person.
“Rape!” Bolanos screamed while the man was holding on to her and Sabogal. He let the two Colombian women go and the pair fled.
Sabogal is in the U.S. illegally. She and the third suspect have yet to be arrested.
On October 6, 2023, Bolanos was arrested and booked into the Miami Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Center in Miami, Florida. She was charged with strong-arm robbery and conspiracy to commit strong-arm robbery.
