Shane Lee Taylor, 44, of New Bern, Craven County, North Carolina, United States is accused of kidnapping and molesting a girl, 12. On October 5, 2023, the girl ran away from home and made it to the CVS Pharmacy in Hollywood, Broward County, Florida, USA.
Outside the pharmacy, Taylor allegedly grabbed the girl by the arm, forced her into the front seat of his sport utility vehicle and started driving. He allegedly told her he was taking her to a police station and started searching for the address to the Federal Bureau of Investigation‘s field office in Miramar, Broward County.
While driving, Taylor allegedly asked the girl if she was “wearing a wire”, started touching her and scoffed at her when she said she did not consent. He allegedly drove past the FBI’s field office in Miramar and drove back towards Hollywood while fondling her vagina and breasts.
When Taylor’s hands were down the girl’s shirt, he crashed near North 28th Avenue in Hollywood. She took the opportunity to escape, went to a Shell gas station and asked the clerk to call 911 just after 7:45 p.m.
Later that night, Taylor was arrested. He told detectives he was in Florida for work and claimed all he did was trying to help the girl.
A Broward County judge found probable cause to charge Taylor with battery, sexual battery of a victim between 12 and 17, two counts of kidnapping a minor under 13 and committing sexual battery, two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim aged 12 to 15 and a traffic citation for disobeying a red light. He is being held without bond at the Paul Rein Detention Facility in Pompano Beach, Broward County.
