Stephen Duffy, 32, of Windsor, Ontario, Canada is accused of trying to lure an underage girl from Adrian, Lenawee County, Michigan, United States. He allegedly knew the girl to be 15 years old.
Duffy allegedly tried to solicit explicit photos from the girl. He allegedly sent her photos of himself and requested to meet her in person.
In December 2022, the Adrian Police Department launched an investigation after receiving a report of the adult targeting a teen. The department traced the adult’s internet protocol address to Windsor.
Because of this, Windsor Police Service‘s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit took over the investigation. The unit is responsible for the investigation of all crimes against children that originate from the misuse of the internet by criminals.
On October 5, 2023, the ICE unit executed a search warrant at Duffy’s residence in Windsor and arrested him. He was charged with luring a child under 18 years old via telecommunications.
Windsor is the southernmost city in Canada. The city is geographically located within Essex County, Ontario but the city is not dependent of the county.
Incorporated in 1854, Windsor is on the south bank of the Detroit River directly across from Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. Detroit is around 80 miles away from Adrian.
