While coaching at Saint Andrews Cathedral School in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia part-time, James was studying sports business at the University of Technology Sydney in Sydney. She briefly dated Paul Thijssen, a cricket and hockey coach and an after-hours coordinator at St. Andrews Cathedral School.
