Derek Harley Lyons, 27, from Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada is 6’1″ tall. He weighs around 210 pounds.
Lyons has brown hair and blue eyes. He has an athletic, muscular build.
On July 15, 2023, Lyons allegedly contacted a man, 85, of Pawtucket, Providence County, Rhode Island, United States. The Canadian man allegedly claimed to be an attorney who needed money to bail a relative of the American man out of jail.
After not being able to contact the relative, the elderly man from Pawtucket followed instructions allegedly from Lyons. The American man gave $18,000 to a courier who came to his residence in Pawtucket.
The courier was allegedly Lyons himself. When the elderly man realized he was scammed, he contacted the Pawtucket Police Department, which immediately started an investigation.
A detective from the department canvassed Lyons’ neighborhood surveillance footage and corresponded and exchanged information with other law enforcement agencies in Rhode Island for similar incidents. Recently, Lyons was identified as the suspect.
A warrant has been issued for Lyons arrest. He is still at large.
