Mary Todd, 21, of Salem, Lee County, Alabama, United States is dating Zachery Chase Shipman, 25, of Salem. On June 16, 2023, he bought Vasser’s Mini Mart in Selma from his mother.
On August 5, 2023, Todd and Shipman were at Riverfront Park in Montgomery, Montgomery County, Alabama with Richard Roberts, 48, of Orange Beach, Baldwin County, Alabama and Allen Todd, 23, of Selma. They docked their pontoon boat in the Harriott II‘s reserved spot.
At around 7:00 p.m., Harriott II captain Jim Kittrell, 62, of Montgomery was trying to dock the riverboat at Riverfront Park but Mary, Shipman, Roberts and Allen refused to move their boat and walked away. The Harriott II sat idle near the dock for about 15 minutes.
The Harriott II had 227 passengers. They witnessed an all-out brawl between the group of Mary, Shipman, Roberts and Allen and a group of riverboat crew members and bystanders.
During the brawl, Mary allegedly kicked Harriott II co-captain Damien Pickett, 56, of Montgomery after he was downed in the melee. While holding a beer in her hand, she allegedly punched him in his throat.
On August 10, 2023, Mary turned herself in to the Montgomery Police Department in Montgomery. She was booked into the Montgomery Municipal Jail and charged with one count of third-degree assault.
On October 27, 2023, Mary pleaded guilty to harassment. She is ordered to pay court costs.
As part of the plea agreement, Mary was ordered to attend anger management classes. She has 90 days to complete the program.
