Why Pocatello, Idaho’s Rachael Swainston, Kadyn Swainston took pregnant girl to Bend, Oregon

Rachael Swainston, 42, lived in Pocatello, Bannock County, Idaho, United States with her son Kadyn Leo Swainston, 18. Staying in her storage shed was Rick A. Parsons Jr., who had an outstanding felony warrant for felony meth trafficking charges

In 2022, Kadyn started having sex with a girl, then 14. Their consensual sexual relationship continued after he turned 18.

Shortly after Kadyn turned 18, the girl discovered that she was pregnant. While she was happy about it, he demanded that she get an abortion, according to her.

On May 18, 2023, Rachael allegedly rented a car and traveled with Kadyn and the pregnant girl to Bend, Deschutes County, Oregon, USA where the girl received an abortion without the consent of the girl’s parents. Pocatello Police Department officers obtained search warrants for the phone records of Rachael and Kadyn, which confirmed that they did travel to Bend that day.

On June 18, 2023, the girl’s mother contacted the Pocatello Police Department to report Rachael and Kadyn’s alleged crimes. On August 2, 2023, the girl was interviewed at a child advocacy center in Pocatello where she disclosed the details of the alleged crimes.

The girl provided the Pocatello Police Department with a copy of the medical paperwork that she received after the abortion in Bend and gave the department permission to forensically extract data from her cell phone. Three photos and one video of the girl and Kadyn engaging in various sex acts were found.

On October 26, 2023, the officers interviewed Kadyn and he admitted that he did have sex with the girl after he turned 18 knowing that she was a minor and that he and Rachael transported the girl to Bend where the girl received an abortion. The officers located more than 40 grams of meth in Rachael’s room and arrested Parsons.

Both Rachael and Kadyn were also arrested and booked into the Bannock County Jail in Pocatello. On October 27, 2023, they appeared before 6th District Judge Scott Axline for separate arraignment hearings and were ordered to be released on their own recognizance.

On November 7, 2023, Kadyn and Rachael will be back in court for separate preliminary hearings. She was charged with harboring a wanted felon, second-degree kidnapping, trafficking in methamphetamine, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance while he was charged with rape, second-degree kidnapping and three counts of producing child sexually exploitative material.
