Reno, Nevada’s Junming Wang arrested by Regional HEAT Unit, booked into Washoe County Jail

Junming Living Wang, 35, of Reno, Washoe County, Nevada, United States is accused of trying to engage in sexual activity with children. He was arrested by the Regional Human Exploitation and Trafficking (H.E.A.T) Unit.

The unit is composed of detectives from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, the police services of the University of Nevada in Reno and the police departments of Reno; Sparks, Washoe County; the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe Reservation in Nevada and the Washoe County School District. From November 1-2, 2023, the unit conducted a sting operation to combat sex purchasers and other crimes related to child sexual exploitation.

During this period, Wang and 13 other adults allegedly used various online platforms to solicit who they thought was an underage child but was actually an undercover detective. The 14 suspects allegedly arranged to engage in sexual activity with the purported juvenile.

After the online conversations, the 14 suspects allegedly arrived at an arranged location to have sex but were met by detectives who arrested them. The location is a lodging establishment in Nevada.

Wang was charged with solicitation of a child for prostitution and attempted child abuse for sexual exploitation. He and the 13 other suspects were all booked into the Washoe County Jail in Reno.

Founded on May 9, 1868 and incorporated on March 16, 1903, Reno is the county seat of Washoe County. The city is known for its casino and tourism industry.

On October 6, 2023, a shooting at the Zephyr Pointe Apartments in Reno injured four adults and three teens. One of the adults and one of the teens were in critical condition.
