Brian Thomas Mann, 34, of Hartselle, Morgan County, Alabama, United States is a chiropractor who used to have an office in Decatur, Morgan County. He and Hannah Victoria Pettey, 24, of Union Grove, Marshall County, Alabama have two children together.

Currently, Mann is required to report to the Morgan County Jail in Decatur no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday through 8:00 a.m. on Monday. Aside from reporting to jail each Friday in a timely fashion, he has also passed all his drug screens, according to his attorney Britt Cauthen.

In April 2018, Mann and Pettey got married in Morgan County. She is an esthetician.

Mann is accused of intentionally poisoning Pettey with lead particles after holding $1.3 million in life insurance policies against her. She was rushed to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama on January 18, 2022.

On March 3, 2022, Pettey was released from the UAB Hospital and days later, she filed for divorce. The divorce case is still pending.

In September 2022, Mann was arrested after being indicted for the attempted murder of Pettey. He was booked into the Morgan County Jail.

In January 2023, Mann posted a $500,000 bond and was conditionally released from jail. Since then, he has been required to report to the Morgan County Jail and wear a global positioning system (GPS) monitor.

In May 2023, Cauthen filed a motion to remove the weekend reporting requirement. It was denied by Circuit Judge Charles Elliot

On November 10, 2023, Cauthen filed another motion claiming Mann’s bond conditions are preventing him from finding employment. According to the motion, Mann is not a flight risk due to the GPS monitor and he has complied with the no-contact order for Pettey and their two children.

Attached to the filing were two letters from Walker Snyder State Farm and BGIS, both in Huntsville, Alabama. The two prospective employers expressed an interest in hiring Mann.

On November 21, 2023, Mann will give a deposition in his divorce case. His criminal trial on the attempted murder charge is set for May 13, 2024.
