Hilo, Hawaii’s Darrell Silva, Waylan Silva arrested; What did officers find in their house?

Darrell Mark Silva, 59, of Hilo, Hawaii, United States and his son Waylan Ha‘aheo Silva, 32, have a house on Hilinai Street in Hilo. On January 4, 2024, Waylan was arrested after allegedly striking a woman, 26, at a residence on Wailoa Street in Hilo.

The woman’s jaw was fractured so she had to be medevacked to Oahu, Hawaii for treatment. Waylan was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and abuse of a family household member.

After posting a $7,000 bail, Waylan was released. On January 19, 2024, he made his initial court appearance in Hilo District Court where the case was transferred to Hilo Circuit Court.

On the same day, members of the Area I Juvenile Aid Section and Vice Section of the Hawaii Police Department executed a warrant at Darrell and Waylan’s residence on Hilinai Street. They found an un-serialized 9MM semi-automatic pistol, a .22 caliber Ruger pistol, a .22 caliber Model 622, a .22 caliber Savage Arms Model 101, ammunition, anabolic steroids and small amounts of cocaine-related paraphernalia.

Both Darrell and Waylan were arrested. During a pat-down search upon arrest, the officers found 31.08 grams of cocaine within zip-packets in a container in Darrell’s pocket.

On January 20, 2024, Waylan was released pending further investigation. Darrell was released after posting a $110,000 bail.

On February 13, 2024, Darrell will make his initial court appearance in Hilo District Court. He was charged with manufacturing, purchasing or obtaining firearm parts to assemble a firearm having no serial number, fourth-degree promotion of a harmful drug, two counts of first-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and two counts of third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug.
