Peter Wheeler Jr., 23, of Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States is accused of possessing child pornography while he was employed by the Fairfield Public Schools.
The computer crimes unit of the Connecticut State Police detected the potential possession of child pornography in Fairfield and notified the Fairfield Police Department about it. On November 13, 2023, the department started an investigation.
Eventually, the department determined Wheeler was the owner of the illegal material. Throughout the entire investigation, he has been cooperative.
Upon learning the crime, the Fairfield Public Schools banned Wheeler from any school buildings. He was immediately removed from having any further interactions with students and staff.
On January 11, 2024, a search and seizure warrant was executed at Wheeler’s residence in Fairfield. Officers arrested him and seized several digital devices.
Wheeler was charged with first-degree possession of child pornography. The examination of the confiscated devices revealed evidence supporting the charge.
Bond for Wheeler was set at $250,000. On February 6, 2024, he will appear in court.
