Why Millis, Massachusetts’ John Reardon called synagogue in Attleboro

John Reardon, 59, of Millis, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, United States allegedly used his cellphone to call the Congregation Agudas Achim, an egalitarian conservative synagogue in Attleboro, Bristol County, Massachusetts, on January 25, 2024.

The Congregation Agudas Achim aims to meet the needs and promote the welfare of the Jewish community and the community at large. It is affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.

“Guess what? We are going to use your logic,” Reardon allegedly said in a voicemail he left at the Congregation Agudas Achim. “If you can kill the Palestinians, we can kill you.”

After hearing the voicemail, an employee called 911.

Within 10 minutes of leaving the voicemail, Reardon allegedly called another synagogue and a Jewish organization. Later that day, he was arrested by police officers in Wrentham, Norfolk County and charged with uttering threats to kill, making a bomb threat and civil rights violations..

On January 29, 2024, Federal Bureau of Investigation agents arrested Reardon. He was additionally charged with using a facility of interstate commerce to threaten a person or place with harm via an explosive.
