Venezuela’s Renzo Montes arrested in Campbell County, Virginia

Renzo Mendoza Montes, 32, is a citizen of Venezuela. He is illegally in the United States.

On March 9, 2021, 46th U.S. president Joe Biden granted temporary protected status to Venezuelan immigrants in the U.S. On October 18, 2023, the first U.S. deportation flight to Venezuela under a his administration initiative landed in Caracas, Venezuela.

On September 2, 2023, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol detained Montes in El Paso, El Paso County, Texas, USA. Why he was released after that is unclear.

Recently, Montes was in Campbell County, Virginia, USA. On February 22, 2024, Campbell County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested him.

After being held without bond, Montes was taken into U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody. He is facing two felony charges in connection with a sexual assault on a minor.

Formed on March 1, 2003, ICE is based in Washington, D.C., USA. It has two components namely Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
