The inaugural edition of Miss Universe Costa Rica will be held at the Centro Internacional de Convenciones ANDE (CIC ANDE) in San Antonio, Costa Rica on September 10, 2024. The winner will be crowned by Nicaragua’s Sheynnis Palacios, the reigning Miss Universe 2023.

Currently, Costa Rica was six Miss Universe placements, which were achieved by Marían Esquivel, Nancy Soto, Johanna Solano, Fabiana Granados, Natalia Carvajal and Ivonne Cerdas. The only years the country was not represented in the international beauty pageant were 1952, 1953 and 1961.
On July 24, 1954, Esquivel finished in the Top 15 at Miss Universe 1954 at the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium in Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California, United States. On June 1, 2004, Soto finished in the Top 10 at Miss Universe 2004 at the Centro de Exposiciones y Convenciones Mitad del Mundo (CEMEXPO) in Quito, Ecuador.
On September 12, 2011, Solano finished in the Top 10 at Miss Universe 2011 at Credicard Hall in São Paulo, Brazil. On November 9, 2013, Granados finished in the Top 16 at Miss Universe 2013 at the Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, Moscow, Russia.
On December 17, 2018, Carvajal finished in the Top 10 at Miss Universe 2018 at the Impact Arena in Pak Kret, Nonthaburi, Thailand. On May 16, 2021, Cerdas finished in the Top 10 at Miss Universe 2020 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, USA.
