Why was Burnest Geyer Jr. arrested?

Geyer is accused of telling two people that he possessed a collection of child pornography material. He allegedly used WhatsApp to contact a woman from a website that lists independent escorts.

According to the woman, Geyer asked her if she had children and if she would be willing to show her children in a video call. He allegedly told her that he was into child pornography.

In January 2024, Geyer turned 31. A female adult content creator hosting a webcam show received a text from him, asking her if she had children and if she was into “dark taboo”.

After Geyer and the content creator exchanged phone calls, he arranged to communicate with her using Telegram. He told the content creator that he liked child pornography and wondered if she would watch it with him so she called the police department of Bridgeport, Fairfield County.

In July 2024, the department fielded the complaint from the content creator. When Geyer contacted her again, she recorded her screen while he showed her photos and videos of child pornography.

The content creator called the Bridgeport Police Department again. She was interviewed by officers from the department and an HSI agent from New Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut.

The HSI agent had been contacted by an HSI agent from Florida, USA to pass along a tip about Geyer’s communication with the woman he contacted via WhatsApp. A judge issued a search warrant for his apartment and electronic devices in Shelton.

On October 8, 2024, investigators conducted a search of Geyer’s apartment in Shelton and seized his items including his iPhone. The Telegram app on the iPhone contained around 2,000 images and videos depicting child pornography.

After the search, Geyer was arrested and charged with receipt and distribution of child pornography and with possession of child pornography. He was released on a $100,000 bond after appearing before U.S. Magistrate Judge S. Dave Vatti in Bridgeport.
