Ho Chi Minh City
Formerly and still locally known as Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City is Vietnam’s largest and most energetic metropolis. Situated along the Saigon River, this economic powerhouse seamlessly blends deep history with rapid modernization. The city’s landscape is defined by contrasts. Elegant French colonial landmarks—such as the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica and the Central Post Office—stand alongside modern skyscrapers like the 81-story Landmark 81 tower. Beyond the architecture, the city’s heart beats in its streets. Streams of motorbikes weave through tree-lined avenues, leading to bustling hubs like Bến Thành Market, where vendors sell local textiles, handicrafts, and aromatic street food.
Renamed in 1976 following the end of the Vietnam War, Ho Chi Minh City has transformed into a global destination for commerce, culture, and tourism. Visitors can explore the War Remnants Museum to reflect on the region’s past, then step into thriving financial districts that highlight Vietnam’s bright economic future. Dynamic, resilient, and constantly moving, Ho Chi Minh City remains the modern pulse of Vietnam.
