Official reactions and legal perspective
The nature of the charges against Lund has drawn sharp criticism and concern from legal officials. Brenda Beadle, the Douglas County Chief Deputy Attorney, emphasized the gravity of the situation given his daily proximity to children.
“To have those images on a device is very telling of their mindset,” Beadle remarked. “To be around and exposed to kids during the day, every day—it’s extremely alarming.”
Despite the lack of current evidence pointing toward student victims, Beadle urged parents to remain vigilant and maintain open lines of communication with their children. She encouraged families to ensure their children feel safe in their environments and advised anyone with concerns to contact law enforcement or Project Harmony for support.
School district response
Millard Public Schools has moved quickly to address the situation and prioritize student safety. Lund has been placed on administrative leave and the district’s human resources department has launched an independent internal investigation. Rebecca Kleeman, the district’s director of communications, confirmed the arrest and outlined the school’s immediate protocol.
“Student safety is always our utmost concern,” Kleeman stated, reinforcing the district’s commitment to a secure learning environment. She noted that the district is fully cooperating with the Nebraska State Patrol and has already reached out to Andersen Middle School families to inform them of the developments.
