Jamar Talley vs Basem Mamdouh

There were 10 professional boxing bouts on the “Glory in Giza” card. The fourth match featured Talley and Basem Mamdouh Goda of Egypt in the cruiserweight division.

Andrei Cheveloiv served as the referee and Nawaf Almohaimeed, Bence Kovacs and Enrico Licini were the judges. The referee stopped the fight after 1 minute and 51 seconds in the second round when Talley knocked out Mamdouh.

The loss brought Mamdouh’s professional boxing record to 10 wins and 3 losses. On the other hand, Talley now has 7 wins and 0 loss.

“Glory in Giza”

Commissioned by the Egyptian Professional Boxing Association, “Glory in Giza” was promoted by Spencer Brown, Eddie Hearn and Sergey Lapin. The matchmaker was Tom Dallas.

Thomas Trieber was the ring announcer while Todd Grisham, Adam Smith, Darren Barker and Barry Jones were the television announcers. Jamie Ward conducted the post-fight interviews.

In the main event, Rico Verhoeven, 37, of the Netherlands challenged World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, 39, of Ukraine. The challenger lost to the defending champion via TKO after 2 minutes and 59 seconds in the 11th round.

Including Egypt, the Netherlands, Ukraine and the U.S., a total of 15 countries were represented. The others were Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cuba, England, France, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Tanzania, Uganda and Uzbekistan.

Talley and Richard Torrez Jr. were the representatives of the U.S. Mamdouh’s fellow hometown fighters were Mai Soliman, Mohamed Mabrouk and Omar Hikal.
