According to official reports, Collins is a confirmed member of the Inland Empire (IE) Projects criminal street gang, which operates out of California. He was actively wanted by the Superior Court of California, County of San Bernardino, for a parole violation stemming from an underlying criminal charge of possession of a firearm.
Authorities allege that after violating the strict conditions of his parole, Collins fled the San Bernardino region to evade capture. Recognizing that the fugitive had crossed state lines, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation formally requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service Pacific Southwest Fugitive Task Force.
As the multi-jurisdictional investigation progressed, federal investigators successfully developed actionable intelligence indicating that Collins had relocated to the Las Vegas valley. The Nevada Violent Offender Task Force was subsequently activated to assist in tracking his movements and executing his apprehension.
Task force members successfully located Collins at approximately 4:45 PM on the afternoon of July 16, 2026. He was intercepted and taken into custody without incident in the 4500 block of West Charleston Boulevard in Las Vegas, a busy commercial corridor located near Decatur Boulevard. At the exact time of his arrest, law enforcement officers discovered that Collins was heavily armed and in possession of illegal contraband. Authorities recovered a handgun equipped with an extended magazine, alongside a quantity of illicit drugs.
U.S. Marshal Gary Schofield praised the seamless coordination between the diverse law enforcement agencies involved, stating that the arrest effectively took both a dangerous firearm and a serious threat out of the community.
