Chad Williams opened fire at the In-N-Out Burder in Twin Falls, Idaho, United States at around 2:29 p.m. on August 1, 2026. Armed with an AR-style rifle and dressed in black, he fatally shot three people and wounded seven others including a North Star Taxi driver named Terry Dudley.
According to In-N-Out president Lynsi Snyder, one of the casualties was an employee. The identity of the victim has yet to be released.
An off-duty Idaho State Police trooper and an armed civilian fired shots that diverted Williams away from the restaurant. The gunman’s motive behind the shooting is still unclear.
After committing the crimes, Williams fatally shot himself. His body was found in an area near the restaurant.
According to authorities, Williams acted alone. He was 24.
Terry Dudley
A resident of Twin Falls, Dudley is a widower with four children. He was shot twice in the back.
Because of internal bleeding, Dudley was transported to a hospital in Boise, Idaho where he underwent surgery. He is currently in stable condition.
“A lot of people have been calling the hospital trying to get information and I’m sure Terry loves and appreciates everything everyone is doing doing to help but the doctors are asking us to let everyone know they won’t be able to give anyone who isn’t immediate family any information,” North Star Taxi stated on August 2, 2026. “We will update you as quickly as the family updates us.”

On January 1, 2010, Lynsi became the sixth president of the company. She is the only child of Esther and Harry’s son H. Guy Snyder.
The company opened a location in Paradise, Nevada, USA on June 9, 2026 and another location in Twin Falls on July 24, 2026. Another location is planned to be added in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA in 2027.

Whether or not Williams is a resident of Twin Falls has yet to be confirmed. Matthew Hicks is the current chief of the city’s police department.
