Sotheary By represented Kamong Chhnang, Cambodia in the 10th edition of Miss Grand Cambodia. She represented the country in the second edition of Miss Southeast Asia, fifth edition of Supermodel International, the 66th edition of Miss Universe, the inaugural edition of Miss Charm and the third edition of Miss Cosmo.

• On May 3, 2015, she represented Cambodia at Supermodel International 2015 and competed against 31 other candidates at the Fontana Resort in Angeles City, Philippines. She was second runner-up to Alexandra Arboleda of Colombia.
