Tel Aviv
Stretching along the Mediterranean coast, Tel Aviv functions as Israel’s restless financial, technological, and cultural center. Founded in 1909 as a modern suburb of Jaffa, the city has evolved into a global metropolis defined by sharp contrasts, rapid innovation, and a distinct urban identity.
The city is globally renowned for its unique architectural heritage, particularly the “White City”—a UNESCO World Heritage site boasting over 4,000 buildings constructed in the Bauhaus or International Style during the 1930s. This distinctive aesthetic gives large swaths of the city a streamlined, modernist charm characterized by asymmetric facades, long horizontal balconies, and corner windows.
Beyond its architecture, Tel Aviv operates as a powerhouse of innovation. It anchors Israel’s technology sector, hosting major research and development hubs for international tech giants alongside a thriving local ecosystem of entrepreneurs and startups.
The daily rhythm of the city centers around its public life and open spaces. Stretching for miles along the Mediterranean shore, its continuous strip of golden sandy beaches serves as a focal point for locals, offering a daily escape for swimmers, surfers, and runners. The culinary scene mirrors this energy, drawing influences from North African, Middle Eastern, and European traditions to create a diverse food culture found everywhere from open-air markets like the Carmel Market to contemporary dining establishments.
Culturally, Tel Aviv houses major institutions such as the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, the Israeli Opera, and the Habima National Theatre. With its dynamic nightlife and progressive atmosphere, the city stands as a major destination where history, modernity, and Mediterranean geography intersect.
