Quornelius Samentrio Radford, 28, of Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida, United States is an active-duty U.S. Army sergeant. In his military record, he had no known behavioral incidents.

Radford had not deployed to a combat zone. His father Eddie Radford, 52, of Jacksonville is a former resident of Middleburg, Clay County, Florida.

As a logistics sergeant, Quornelius oversaw supplies and equipment and maintenance of supply data and records in the U.S. Army. He was assigned to one of the sustainment units in the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, which is based at Fort Stewart, Georgia, USA.

In January 2018, Quornelius joined the U.S. Army as an automated logistical specialist. In 2022, he was assigned to Fort Stewart.

On December 13, 2014, Quornelius was fined $90 for speeding in Glynn County, Georgia. In May 2025, he bought a 9mm Glock in Florida.

At 1:02 a.m. on May 18, 2025, Quornelius was arrested by the Georgia Highway Patrol in Hinesville, Liberty County, Georgia for driving under the influence and running a red light. The soldier was driving a 2021 Nissan Altima with Florida plates.

Quornelius was booked into the Liberty County Jail in Hinesville. He was released after posting a bond set at $1,818.

On August 5, 2025, Quornelius had a disagreement with a fellow soldier at Fort Stewart. On the morning of August 6, 2025, the Jacksonville man used the handgun he bought in Florida in May 2025 to open fire at his workplace, wounding five of his fellow soldiers.

One of the victims was the soldier Quornelius had a disagreement with a day before the shooting, which happened in an area of Fort Stewart that houses the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team called the Spartan Brigade. The gunman was subdued by nearby soldiers.

At 10:56 a.m., law enforcement was dispatched to the incident. Before 11:06 a.m., Fort Stewart was locked down.

At 11:09 a.m., emergency personnel were sent to treat the five wounded soldiers. Three of them required surgery and two of them were taken to the Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia, which is around 40 miles away from Fort Stewart.

At 11:35 a.m., Quornelius was apprehended. At 12:10 p.m., the lockdown of the main cantonment area of Fort Stewart was lifted.

All of the victims are all in stable condition. They were treated on site before they were moved to Winn Army Community Hospital at Fort Stewart for further care.
