Christopher Caron, 42, of Scituate, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, United States has entered a not guilty plea in the death of Declan Perry of Portland, Maine, USA. The latter was born and raised in Hooksett, New Hampshire, USA.

Perry worked as a chef at a restaurant in Portland. He is Brendan Perry and Heidi Perry‘s son and Connor Perry‘s brother.

On August 22, 2025, Declan went to a condominium complex in Scituate where Caron lived. The two then went to Boston, Massachusetts, USA to buy fentanyl and cocaine.

On August 23, 2025, two men living in the condominium complex helped Caron load a large, heavy blanket into Declan’s black Honda Civic outside Caron’s residence. Later that day, Caron drove the car to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, Massachusetts, entered the hospital, told the staff there was a body in the car outside and left before police officers arrived.

A hospital employee found Declan dead in the backseat of his car parked outside the emergency room entrance of the hospital. He was wrapped in blankets and duct tape.

On August 25, 2025, Scituate Police Department officers carried out a search warrant for Caron’s condo in Scituate. They seized ligatures and electronics from the unit.

On August 26, 2025, Massachusetts State Police obtained a warrant for Caron’s arrest. On August 27, 2025, he turned himself in to the Scituate Police Department.

Caron was booked into the Plymouth County House of Correction in Plymouth, Massachusetts. He told investigators that he and Declan took fentanyl and cocaine together and the latter overdosed.

However, the medical examiner found Declan had deep hemorrhaging of his chest, back and the back of his head from blunt force trauma. He also had injuries to his eyes, mouth, nose and face also from blunt force trauma and injuries and hemorrhaging to his neck, which were due to strangulation. 

On September 2, 2025, Caron was arraigned in Hingham District Court in Hingham, Massachusetts. He pleaded not guilty to murder in the death of Declan.

Caron was ordered held without bail. On September 29, 2025, he will be back in court.
