Ooriginally from Virginia Beach, Virginia, Houston attended Frank W. Cox High School in Great Neck, Virginia Beach and Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, USA. She lived in Vienna, Virginia before moving to Tysons, Virginia.
On July 17, 2021, Houston represented Vienna at Miss Virginia USA 2021 and competed agains 34 other candidates at the Carpenter Theater in Richmond, Virginia. She finished in the Top 16.
On April 16, 2022, Houston represented Vienna at Miss Virginia USA 2022 and competed against 24 other candidates at the Merchant Hall of the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas, Virginia. She was fourth runner-up to Kailee Horvath.
