Peter Michael Scherer, a 23-year-old student from Alpine, California, was charged in 1991 with illegal firearm trafficking alongside three others. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms uncovered a cache of weaponry at his residence during an undercover operation. Scherer pleaded not guilty, with bail set at $200,000.
