Henry Edwin Hale was born in Tennessee and had a complex family life, losing his mother early and marrying Audrey Christine Burnette in 1948. They had three children. After being diagnosed with brain cancer, Christine retired to care for him. Henry passed away in 1972. His grandson was involved in a tragic school shooting in 2023.
