Christopher Clay “Chris” Hollingsworth was an American law enforcement officer from Louisiana, United States. He was born in Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana to Clay Douglas Hollingsworth and Coni Goldsberry Hollingsworth.

In 1999, Chris and Darby Bennett Hollingsworth, a schoolteacher, got married. They have one son together.

Chris was a member of the New Chapel Hill Baptist Church in West Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana. He served as a law enforcement officer for 29 years. 

Aside from deer hunting, Chris also enjoyed serving on the drag racing pit crew for this son. Here are 13 more things about the late Monroe native:

  1. He studied criminal justice at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana.
  2. For six years, he served as an Army National Guard specialist.
  3. As a Louisiana State Police trooper, he received special accommodations and awards including 2003 Litter Reduction Award, 2005 Meritorious Service, 2007 Professional Excellence Award, 2014 Troop F Trooper of the Year, 2017 Keep Louisiana Beautiful Litter Award and 2019 Life Saving Award.
  4. On May 10, 2019, he and his fellow Louisiana State Police troopers Dakota DeMoss, Kory York and Lieutenant John Clary stunned, punched, choked and dragged Ronald A. Greene as Greene apologized for leading them on a high-speed chase along a highway in Monroe, Ouachita Parish. Greene died on his way to the hospital, according to the Louisiana State Police’s Criminal Investigations Division.
  5. On May 6, 2020, Greene’s daughter Tayla Greene filed a wrongful death lawsuit against him, DeMoss, York, Clary, captain John Peters, sergeant Floyd McElroy and deputy sheriff Christopher Harpin and three unknown manufacturers of the electronic control weapons used by the officers during Greene’s fatal arrest on May 10, 2019. 
  6. On September 9, 2020, the Louisiana State Police placed him on paid leave.
  7. On September 16, 2020, during a two-hour interrogation, he portrayed himself as the victim in Greene’s arrest on May 10, 2019, saying, “I was scared. He could have done anything once my hold was broke off him and that’s why I struck him.”
  8. On September 20, 2020, he received word that the Louisiana State Police intended to terminate him following an internal investigation into Ronald’s death.
  9. At 3:00 a.m. on September 21, 2020, he crashed his personal vehicle on Interstate 20 near Monroe while off-duty. He was airlifted to Shreveport, Louisiana.
  10. On September 22, 2020, he was pronounced dead after a brief hospitalization at Louisiana State University Health Center in Shreveport. He was 46.
  11. On September 25, 2020, he was buried with honors in West Monroe.
  12. On October 1, 2020, The Associated Press released an audio clip of his conversation with a colleague on May 10, 2019, in which he said he “beat the ever living f–k” out of Ronald and choked Ronald to get the black man under control.
  13. On March 30, 2022, The Associated Press released voice record of his interrogation on September 16, 2020.
