“Legends of Tomorrow” will be back for its third season five months after its second season ended. Arthur Darvill will be back to reprise his role as Rip Hunter.

In Season 3, Rip Hunter and his new Time Bureau will have a face-off with the Legends of Tomorrow. Recently, executive producer Marc Guggenheim shared some details about what fans can expect from the upcoming season of The CW series.

“In Season 2, he was turned evil,” Guggenheim told Entertainment Weekly referring to Rip. “This is not Evil Rip. We’re not making Rip a bad guy or that kind of villain.”

Instead, Rip in Season 3 is “the Ronny Cox in ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ to our Eddie Murphy, the EP added. He was referring to the 1984 action comedy film starring Murphy as Detroit police detective Axel Foley and Cox as Lt. Andrew Bogomil.

This means that Darvill’s character is the guy trying to follow the rules, do things the proper way, and get things done with a certain level of efficiency in Season 3. In contrast, the Legends of Tomorrow go about things a bit more unorthodox.

Darvill was asked about what fans can expect from Season 3 in a recent interview with Digital Spy. He did not reveal anything except that he confirmed that he is reprising his role as Rip and what is going to happen is very exciting.

“I don’t know how much I can say,” Darvill told the publication. “I’m definitely in it. I know kind of what’s happening, but you’ll have to wait and see.

On October 10, 2017, “Legends of Tomorrow” Season 3 will premiere on The CW. Joining Darvill in the cast are Victor Garber as Dr. Martin Stein, Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer/The Atom, Caity Lotz as Sara Lance, Franz Drameh as Jefferson Jackson/Firestorm, Maisie Richardson-Sellers as Amawa Jiwe/Vizen, Nick Zano as Nate Heywood, Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory and Tala Ashe as Adrianna Romaz/Isis, among others.
