Simon Marcus vs Zack Wells

Former Glory Middleweight Champion Simon “The One” Marcus, 31, of Ontario, Canada and Zack Wells, 34, of Colorado, United States co-headlined “Glory 52: Los Angeles” on March 31, 2018 at the Pacific Room in Los Angeles, California, USA. It is Glory Kickboxing’s third 2018 event.

Marcus and Wells competed in the middleweight division. The bout ended in the very first round.

At 1:03 of Round 1, the referee stopped the bout declaring Marcus as the winner.  Due to excessive unanswered blows, the Canadian kickboxer won via technical knockout via referee stoppage making him the first ever fighter to defeat Wells.

Born in Toronto, Ontario, Marcus is of Jamaican descent. As an amateur kickboxer, he has 19 wins and 2 losses.

On June 21, 2014, Marcus made his Glory Kickboxing debut. He lost to Joe Schilling at “Glory 17: Los Angeles- Last Man Standing.”

When Marcus returned to the Glory Kickboxing ring on April 2, 2015 at “Glory 20: Dubai,” he defeated Jason Wilnis and Wayne Barrett. On May 8, 2015, Marcus competed in the promotion for the third time facing Artem Levin at “Glory 21: San Diego.”

The bout between Marcus and Levin ended in a draw but when they had their rematch on February 26, 2016 at “Glory 27: Chicago,” Marcus emerged victorious. This was followed by another victory for Marcus when he defeated Dustin Jacoby at “Glory 30: Los Angeles.”

On September 9, 2016, Marcus and Wilnis had a rematch at “Glory 33: New Jersey” and it was a redemptive win for the latter. On October 21, 2016, Marcus and Jacoby had a rematch at “Glory 34: Denver” where the former defeated the latter for the second time.

On April 29, 2017, Marcus and Wilnis faced each other for the third time. “Glory 40: Copenhagen” marked the second time Marcus defeated Wilnis.

Before facing Wells at “Glory 52: Los Angeles,” Marcus competed against Alex Pereira at “Glory 46: Guangzhou.” The latter won the bout.

On the other hand, “Glory 52: Los Angeles” marked Wells’ second Glory Kickboxing bout. He made a successful promotional debut on October 9, 2015 by defeating Chris Trammell at “Glory 24: Denver.”

Wells now has 4 wins and 1 loss overall, 1 win and 1 loss in Glory Kickboxing. On the other hand, Marcus has 48 wins, 4 losses and 2 draws overall, 7 wins, 3 losses and 1 draw in Glory Kickboxing.
