ONE Championship athlete Jenny “Lady GoGo” Huang, 27, of Taiwan was an undefeated mixed martial artist with 5 wins from 2015 to 2016. On March 11, 2017, her clean record was blemished when she unsuccessfully challenged ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion Angela “Unstoppable” Lee, 21, of Singapore.
On June 30, 2017, Huang was submitted by Mei “V.V.” Yamaguchi, 34, of Japan. The Taiwanese MMA fighter said, “It was frustrating.”
“After winning five-straight matches to start my career, now I’ve lost two consecutive bouts,” Huang continued. “It’s difficult because I am in a tough position. Another loss is detrimental.”
Now, Huang is starting to really feel a sense of urgency when it comes to her professional career as a martial artist. Once a top contender, the Taiwanese atomweight is attempting to catapult herself back into the title picture and is desperately trying to avoid the first three-bout losing skid of her prizefighting stint.
Jenny Huang vs Gina Iniong
Huang expects to solve both dilemmas on April 20, 2018. That day, she will fight Gina “Conviction” Iniong, 28, of Baguio City, Philippines at “ONE: Heroes of Honor” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines.
“My fight against Angela Lee showed striking was my weakness,” Huang said. “Now, I am facing a great striker in Iniong. I had to improve all of my techniques, on offense and defense.”
In 2017, Huang made two appearances in the promotion but she failed to have her hand raised in both cage outings. She stated, “I want to vie for the top prize of ONE Championship’s atomweight division again. In order to achieve that, I need to build a momentum with a huge win.”
Headlined by Team Lakay fighter Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, 30, and Andrew Leone, 28, of the United States, “ONE: Heroes of Honor” will take place at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. It will also make the debut of ONE Super Series headlined by Giorgio Petrosyan, 32, of Italy and “Smokin” Jo Nattawut, 25, of Thailand.
Huang admitted that getting the victory at “ONE: Heroes of Honor” will be arduous as the opposition that stands in front of her is no slouch. She said, “Every time I am training, I need to be preparing, and ready, to be an all-around fighter.”
“Before, my strong point was only grappling,” Huang continued. “I cannot just focus on one thing.”
