Tetsuya “MMA Fantasista” Yamada, 28, of Kanigawa, Japan won his second ONE Championship victory on May 12, 2018. He defeated his Filipino opponent Eric “The Natural” Kelly, 36, at “ONE: Grit and Glory” at the Jakarta Convention Center in Jakarta, Indonesia.

With Olivier Coste as the referee, Yamada and Kelly competed in a catchweight bout (72 kg). Coste put a stop to the bout at Round 1 when Yamada submitted Kelly via rear-naked choke.

Yamada made his ONE Championship debut on September 2, 2017 at “ONE Championship: Shanghai.” He submitted Kyle Rozewski via rear-naked choke at 1:56 of Round 1.

When Yamada competed inside the ONE Championship cage for the second time, he had his first loss in the promotion, his sixth as a professional mixed martial artist. He was submitted by Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev via armbar at “ONE: Iron Will” on March 24, 2018.

An MMA veteran from Baguio City, Philippines, Kelly has been fighting in ONE Championship since 2011. When he made his promotional debut at “ONE: Champion vs Champion,” he submitted Mitch Chilson via rear-naked choke.

Kelly went on to defeat Bae Yong Kwon, Jens Pulver, Rob Lisita and Hiroshige Tanaka inside the ONE Championship cage. However, the fighter from Baguio City lost to Ev Ting, Narantungalag Jadambaa, Koketsu Boku and Rafael Nunes before losing to Yamada.

After defeating Kelly, Yamada now has 22 wins and 6 losses. On the other hand, Kelly’s record downgraded to 12 wins and 5 losses.

In the co-main event of “ONE: Grit and Glory,” Stefer Rahardian of Indonesia competed against Himanshu Kaushik of India in the strawweight division.
