Not every mixed martial artist is given the chance to compete in a title bout especially in a promotional debut. That is why Laura “La Gladiadora” Balin, 38, of Argentina is very grateful to be tapped as the challenger of reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, 30, of Shandong, China at “ONE: Pinnacle of Power.”

Taking place at the Studio City Event Center in Macau, China on June 23, 2018, “ONE: Pinnacle of Power” will be headlined by Xiong and Balin. It marks the Argentinian challenger’s first bout in ONE Championship.

“It is an honor to compete for the world championship in my first appearance in ONE,” Balin stated. “I am grateful that the promotion has placed trust in my skills and talent, and will do everything in my power to take the title from the champion. I’m coming in with upset on my mind, and it’s going to be a very exciting matchup.”

With a professional MMA record of 10 wins and 2 losses, Balin competed in South America for most of her professional career thus far. The main event of “ONE: Pinnacle of Power” marks her very first time to compete in Asia.

Out of Balin’s 10 total victories, 9 have come by spectacular finish, including 5 submissions and 4 knockouts. The only opponents she was not able to defeat were Brazilian fighters Kalindra Faria, 31, and Vanessa “Vanessinha” Guimaraes, 28.

After losing to Faria and Guimaraes, Balin enjoyed a four-bout winning streak. The Argentinian fighter defeated Maria Isabel “Iron Lady” Val, 27, of Uruguay, Luly “La Vampiresa” Silva of Argentina, Xiomara “La Pitbull” Piriz of Uruguay and Yanina “Yani” Juarez Diaz of Argentina.

On the other hand, Xiong currently has 11 wins and 1 loss. Here is a clip from her most recent bout inside the ONE Championship cage:
