Reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, 30, of Shandong, China is defending her title for the first time. Making an attempt to dethrone the Chinese champ is Laura “La Gladiadora” Balin, 38, of Argentina.
Xiong and Balin will headline “ONE: Pinnacle of Power” at the Studio City Event Center in Macau, China on June 23, 2018. It will be co-headlined by reigning ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes, 29, of Brazil with ONE Interim Flyweight World Champion Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio, 29, of the Philippines.
“Winning the title is one of the biggest moments of my career,” Xiong stated. “I am proud to represent China on the global stage of martial arts and plan to successfully defend the belt against any opponent. Laura Balin is a worthy challenger, but the outcome of this match will be one where I am the winner.”
With a professional mixed martial arts record of 14 wins and 1 loss, Xiong began her career competing in professional boxing. She was inspired by her father, who imparted in her values of courage and integrity.
Featuring a wide array of skills, Xiong bagged a gold medal at the prestigious China Open Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournament in 2017. In her last bout, which took place in Indonesia at “ONE: Kings of Courage” on January 20, 2018, she became the inaugural ONE Women’s Strawweight World Championship by knocking out Tiffany “No Chill” Teo, 27, of Singapore via punches in the fourth round.
“ONE: Pinnacle of Power” marks Xiong’s third ONE Championship bout. She made a successful promotional debut on December 9, 2017 at “ONE: Warriors of the World” where she knocked out April Osenio of the Philippines via punches.
