Representing Team Lakay of Baguio City, Philippines, Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, 34, is returning to the ONE Championship cage competing in front of his fellow Filipinos soon. This has been confirmed by ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong.

On June 7, 2018, Sityodtong took to Facebook to confirm some of the bouts on the card of “ONE: Reign of Kings,” which will take place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on July 27, 2018. The ONE Championship leader wrote, “Eduard Folayang will light up Philippines with his greatness on this card.”

Things did not work in Folayang’s favor the last time he competed in front of his countrymen. On November 10, 2017, he lost the ONE Lightweight World Champion title to Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 29, of Australia and Vietnam, who is now the reigning ONE Featherweight and Lightweight World Champion.

Because Folayang lost to Nguyen via knockout, the Filipino MMA superstar has to conquer several opponents before competing again for the ONE Lightweight World Champion title. Determined to redeem his top position in the lightweight division of ONE Championship, the Team Lakay fighter bounced back on May 19, 2018 by defeating Kharun “Predator” Atlangeriev, 25, of Russia at “ONE: Unstoppable Dreams” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore.

Folayang’s opponent at “ONE: Reign of Kings” has yet to be announced. His fellow Team Lakay fighter Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, 30, is also on the card competing for the ONE Interim Bantamweight World Champion title against Nguyen, who is aiming for his third world title.

Losing in front of the Filipino crowd and returning triumphantly is not something new to Folayang. On December 5, 2014, he lost to Timofey Nastyukhin at “ONE: Warrior’s Way” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena but on April 21, 2017, the Team Lakay fighter returned to the same venue and successfully defended the ONE Lightweight World Champion belt from Ev “E.T.” Ting, 28, of Malaysia and Australia at “ONE: Legends of the World.”

Currently, Folayang has 19 wins and 6 losses. Here is a short interview with the Team Lakay fighter:
