Irish mixed martial arts superstar Conor “Notorious” McGregor was one of the celebrities who attended “Brave 13: Europe Evolution” at the SSE Arena in Belfast, Ireland on June 9, 2018. He supported his Straight Blast Gym (SBG) Ireland teammates who competed in the first event of Bahrain-based MMA promotion Brave Combat Federation in Europe.
McGregor arrived at the SSE Arena right after the victory of his SBG Ireland teammate Cian “The Warrior” Cowley. On April 5, 2018, Cowley and several others accompanied McGregor at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York where they attacked a fighters’ van.
Because of the attack, McGregor was charged with one count of criminal mischief and three counts of assault while Cowley was charged with one count of criminal mischief. They are scheduled to return to a New York courtroom on June 14, 2018.
Fighting out of Dublin, Ireland, McGregor was the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight and Lightweight Champion. He also competed as a welterweight in MMA and light middleweight in boxing.
At “Brave 13: Europe Evolution,” Cowley knocked out his Polish opponent Oktawian “Obi-Wan” Olejniczak via elbows and punches at 4:41 of Round 1. It was the SBG Ireland fighter’s first professional MMA win.
Cowley at Olejniczak competed in a catchweight of 73 kg. It was the first bout on the main card.
SBG Ireland fighter Sam Slater was also victorious earlier in the evening. He defeated his Polish opponent Piotr Tokarski via unanimous decision.
Slater and Tokarski competed in the featherweight division. It was the second bout on the preliminary card.
In the main event of the evening, McGregor was on the corner of SBG Ireland fighter Frans “The Black Mamba” Mlambo who lost via unanimous decision to reigning Brave CF Bantamweight Champion Stephen “The Sniper” Loman of the Philippines. Here is the Filipino champ thanking his supporters:
