ONE Championship has confirmed that Tukkatatong Petpayathai of Singapore and Panicos Yusuf of Cyprus are competing at “ONE: Spirit of a Warrior” at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar on June 29, 2018. This is the second event of the promotion to take place in the home country of Aung San Suu Kyi in 2018.
At “ONE: Spirit of a Warrior,” Petpayathai and Yusuf will battle it out in a Muay Thai contest in the bantamweight division under the ONE Super Series card. This is the first time the two martial artists, who are both two-time Muay Thai World champions, are competing in the strikes-only league of ONE Championship.
Holding a professional record of 243 wins, 38 losses and 2 draws, Petpayathai is an instructor at Evolve MMA in Singapore. Having fought more than 200 professional Muay Thai contests, he has been highly ranked at both Lumpinee Stadium and Rajadamnern Stadium.
On the other hand, Yusuf previously fought in the bantamweight division of “Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series” Season 1. He currently holds a record of 36 wins and 6 losses.
Headlining “ONE: Spirit of a Warrior” are reigning ONE Middleweight and Light Heavyweight World Champion “The Burmese Python” Aung La N Sang of Myanmar and Ken Hasegawa of Japan. Aung will defend his middleweight champion belt from Hasegawa, who is making his ONE Championship debut.
Titled “ONE: Quest for Gold,” ONE Championship’s first event in Myanmar in 2018 took place on February 23, 2018 at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium. In the main event, Aung won the ONE Light Heavyweight World Champion title after knocking out Alexandre “Bebezao” Machado of Brazil.
