Li Kai Wen wants rematch with Martin Nguyen after making ONE Championship record

It was a great night for “The Underdog” Li Kai Wen, 22, of China on June 23, 2018. After winning via an impressive knockout at “ONE: Pinnacle of Power” in front of his countrymen, he called out reigning ONE Lightweight and Featherweight Champion Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 29, of Australia and Vietnam.

Li competed against ONE Championship debutante Rodian “The Redeemer” Menchavez of the Philippines in the featherweight division at “ONE: Pinnacle of Power.” It was the third bout of the evening at the Studio City Center in Macau, China.

Referee Kemp Cheng put a stop to the featherweight bout between Li and Menchavez at 0:10 of Round 1 when the Chinese fighter knocked out his Filipino opponent via a punch. It is one of the fastest knockouts in the history of ONE Championship’s featherweight division.

During Li’s post-fight interview with Mitch “The Dragon” Chilson inside the cage, the Chinese fighter called out Nguyen. According to Li, he is ready to have his rematch with the first ever two-division world champion of ONE Championship.

The first encounter between Li and Nguyen the two took place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on April 15, 2016 at “ONE: Global Rivals.” Referee Olivier Coste put a stop to their featherweight bout at 4:44 of Round 1 when the Vietnamese-Australian contender knocked out his Chinese opponent via punches.

After defeating Menchavez at “ONE: Pinnacle of Power,” the Chinese contender improved his record to 8 wins and 4 losses. It marked his seventh win in ONE Championship.
