Hailing from Baguio City, Philippines, Igorot warrior Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio became the ONE Interim Flyweight World Champion on January 26, 2018. In front of his countrymen at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines, he won his rematch with former ONE Flyweight World Champion Kairat “The Kazakh” Akhtemov of Kazakhstan at “ONE: Global Superheroes.”
On June 23, 2018, Eustaquio won yet another rematch at “ONE: Pinnacle of Power” at the Studio City Event Center in Macau, China. It was his third rematch in ONE Championship.
After five five-minute rounds at “ONE: Pinnacle of Power,” Eustaquio was declared the winner via split decision, snatching the title ONE Flyweight World Champion from Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes of Brazil. The title unification bout was the main event of the evening.
“The feeling is awesome. I want to thank all my kababayans (countrymen) here who came out to support me,” Eustaquio said in his post-fight interview inside the cage with Mitch “The Dragon” Chilson. “I came to Macau with one vision, and that is to [unify the flyweight titles], and I know I am not capable of doing this alone.”
Eustaquio has been representing Team Lakay since his professional mixed martial arts debut in 2011 and he has been competing in ONE Championship since 2012. On the Igorot warrior’s corner at “ONE: Pinnacle of Power” were Team Lakay head coach Mark “The Machine” Sangiao and former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang.
“I want to thank God, Team Lakay, and of course my family,” Eustaquio said in front of the crowd at the Studio City Event Center. “And to all the fans, thank you so much for the undying support. Ladies and gentlemen, when I started 14 years ago, this was impossible.”
“But now, after 14 years, impossible is not a word, it’s just a reason,” the newly crowned undisputed ONE Flyweight World Champion added. “Anybody can be a world champion, as long as you have the drive and the attitude. I am proud to be the undisputed ONE Flyweight World Champion this time.”
