ONE Championship has announced the complete fight card for “ONE: Battle for the Heavens,” which will take place at the Guangzhou Tianhe Gymnasium in Guangzhou, China on July 7, 2018. The fourth bout of the evening will be between Zhao Zhi Kang, 22, of China and Meas Meul, 28, of Cambodia.
Zhao and Meul will compete at a catchweight of 68 kg. Both fighters are coming out of a loss.
In Zhao’s most recent bout, which was at “ONE: Iron Will” on March 24, 2018, he was submitted by Waqar Umar, 27, of Pakistan via rear-naked choke. The last time Zhao won was on November 10, 2017 at “ONE: Legends of the World” where he submitted Thai Rithy, 20, of Cambodia via rear-naked choke.
In Meul’s most recent bout, which was at “ONE: Unstoppable Dreams” on May 18, 2018, he was knocked out by Chao Xie via punches. The last time Meul won inside the ONE Championship cage was on December 5, 2015 at “ONE: Kingdom of Khmer” where he knocked out Chan Samart of Cambodia via punches.
Currently, Meul has a professional mixed martial arts record of 5 wins and 2 losses. Zhao will be his fifth opponent in ONE Championship.
On the other hand, Zhao currently has 10 wins and 3 losses. “ONE: Battle for the Heavens” marks his third bout in ONE Championship.
“ONE: Battle for the Heavens” will be headlined by Yodcherry Sityodtong, 19, of Thailand and Kai Ting “Killer Bee” Chuang, 23, of Taiwan, who will compete for the inaugural ONE Super Series Kickboxing Atomweight World Championship. It will be the 10th bout of the evening.
