Representing China, “Rock Man” Chen Lei, 29, conquered his Afghan opponent at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar on June 29, 2018. It marked the fourth win of the Chinese mixed martial artist in ONE Championship.
At “ONE: Spirit of a Warrior,” Lei faced Ahmad Qais Jasoor, 28, of Afghanistan in the bantamweight division. Currently reigning as ONE Bantamweight World Champion is Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes of Brazil.
The bantamweight bout between Jasoor and Chen at “ONE: Spirit of a Warrior” ended at 1:27 of Round 3. Chen was declared the winner via technical knockout.
By defeating Jasoor, Chen maintained his undefeated professional MMA record. The Chinese fighter improved his record to 5 wins and 0 loss.
On the other hand, “ONE: Spirit of a Warrior” marked Jasoor’s ONE Championship debut. He joined the promotion as an undefeated fighter and Chen is the first fighter to defeat him.
Oliver Coste served as the referee of the bantamweight bout between Jasoor and Chen at “ONE: Spirit of a Warrior.” It was the fifth bout of the evening.
In the co-main event of “ONE: Spirit of a Warrior,” Leandro “Brodinho” Issa, 34, of Brazil submitted Roman “Sonic Boom” Alvarez, 23, of Guam via arm-triangle choke. It was Guamanian fighter’s first bout in ONE Championship.
In the main event, “The Burmese Python” Aung La N Sang, 33, win successfully defended his ONE Middleweight World Champion title from Ken Hasegawa, 31, of Japan. The Burmese champion knocked out his Japanese challenger at 3:13 of Round 5.
