Thailand’s Kritsada Kongsrichai earns 5th ONE Championship win

Representing Thailand, Kritsada “Dream Man” Kongsrichai, 26, conquered his Filipino opponent at “ONE: Spirit of a Warrior” at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar on June 29, 2018. It was the fifth win of the Thai mixed martial artist in ONE Championship.

“ONE: Spirit of a Warrior” marked Kongsrichai’s sixth bout in ONE Championship. He faced Jeremy “The Jaguar” Miado of the Philippines in the strawweight division, which is currently dominated by reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion Yoshitaka “Nobita” Naito of Japan.

After three five-minute rounds, the strawweight bout between Kongsrichai and Miado at “ONE: Spirit of a Warrior” was left in the hands of the judges. Referee Kemp Cheng raised the Thai contender’s hand as the winner via unanimous decision.

Kongsrichai was Miado’s third Thai opponent in ONE Championship. The Filipino fighter had a rough start in the promotion as he lost to his first two opponents, his fellow Filipino contender Robin Catalan and Thai fighter Pongsiri Mitsatit.

When Miado made his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Kings of Destiny” on April 21, 2017 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, he lost to Catalan defeated Miado via split decision. Miado returned to the cage on November 3, 2017 at “ONE: Hero’s Dream” and lost to Mitsatit via technical knockout via retirement.

It was on March 24, 2018 when Miado won his first ONE Championship victory. He knocked out former ONE Strawweight World Champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke of Thailand via punch at “ONE: Iron Will” on March 24, 2018.

Miado entered ONE Championship as an undefeated fighter. After losing to Kongsrichai at “ONE: Spirit of a Warrior,” the Filipino dynamo now has a professional MMA record to 7 wins and 3 losses.

On the other hand, the bout at “ONE: Spirit of a Warrior” extended Kongsrichai’s winning streak. Before facing Miado, the Thai fighter defeated Adrian Matheis at “ONE: Warrior Kingdom,” Rabin Catalan at “ONE: Warriors of the World” and Robin Catalan at “ONE: Iron Will,” consecutively.

Defeating Miado at “ONE: Spirit of a Warrior” improved Kongsrichai’s professional MMA record to 8 wins and 3 losses. He only lost once in ONE Championship.

The only ONE Championship athlete to defeat Kongsrichai is a Filipino. The Thai fighter lost to Joshua “The Passion” Pacio of the Philippines via rear-naked choke submission at “ONE: Heroes of the World” on August 13, 2016.
